A Moscow-bound Russian flight is carrying part of the Holy Flame that descended onto the Holy Sepulcher. The fire will be burning in many Russian churches during the Easter services tonight. The main service will take place in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
On Sunday, April 15, Russia is celebrating Easter, the most important and joyful feast for Christians, when the Church commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

The Moscow News writes that Nizhny Novgorod court has sentenced a school teacher to a year of public-service work for demeaning her pupils. The 49-year-old mathematics teacher repeatedly referred to her students as "a herd of sheep," "worse than her dog," "monkeys," "swine," and "dolls which are bought in stores."

The Russian women's fencing team has won the Sabre World Cup in Kiev, Ukraine. Sofya Velikaya, Yulia Gavrilova, Ekaterina Dyachenko and Dina Galiakbarova defeated Ukraine 45-44, the Voice of Russia reports.

Psychologists and sociologists are alarmed by the latest trend in the country: over 60% of Russian women equal success in life with high-paid career rather than creating a family. Half of women in Russia make more than their husbands. The number of successful women is increasing and they do not rate marriage and childbirth high in their priority list. While Russian men tend to look for educated bride with a good job, women prefer climbing the career ladder to marriage stamp in passport, missus.ru writes.

Berezikova is 29. From 2003 to 2005 she was the champion of Saint Petersburg in boxing, the winner of Russia's Boxing Cup in 2003, winner of the Russian boxing championship in 2004 and 2005, Saint Petersburg combat sambo champion in 2004 and Russia Jiu-jitsu champion in 2008.

Russia is marking Cosmonautics Day for the 50th time. It was established on the 12th of April 1961 in honour of the first anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight. Yury Gagarin spent one hour and 48 minutes in space, orbited the Earth, and safely returned. It was an instant success for the Soviet space programme that proved Russia's lead in space exploration.

Every 5th marriage in Russia is reported to be a fraud to get a residence permit or Russian citizenship, dni.ru writes. Ru.net (Russian internet) has a plenty of offers for a sham marriage. The rates vary: from 350 thousand rubles (USD 11 743) in Moscow to 80 thousand rubles (USD 2 684) in Podmoskovie. Unlike some other countries in Europe fake marriages are not punishable by law in Russia. Yet a series of cases when sham spouses were brought to court have taken place already.

The Leopard Land Nature Park has been created in the Primorye territory to protect the shrinking population of Far Eastern leopard, which is one of the rarest species of wild felines. Over the past 20 years the number of animals has dipped to a critically low level of only 35. The reasons are the human activity and the shrinking habitat.
The park would stretch out for 262,000 hectares in southwestern areas of Primorye and cover 60% of the habitat of the remaining 35 Far Eastern leopards. The federal budget assigns 40 million rubles in annual funding of the new nature park and almost 500 million rubles for the development of its infrastructure, Itar Tass informs.

Pravda.ru informs that according to the Russian Union of Travel Industry 30% of country's nationals spend vacation within the country and only 5% travel abroad on holiday. 17 % of Russians have international passports and 70% of people have never travelled to foreign countries. Krasnodar Krai remains the preferred local tourist destination and welcomes around 7% of Russians. 11 million tourists from Russia spend their vacation there last year. Tour operators say that Russian hotel rooms' prices match the same in Turkey for instance, yet the high cost of the air travel makes Russian tourism product non-competitive.

Russia remembers its poet Bella Akhmadulina who died about a year and a half ago. She would have turned 75 years old today, Russkiy Mir Foundation informs. The New York Times said Akhmadulina was "always recognized as one of the Soviet Union's literary treasures and a classic poet in the long line extending from Lermontov and Pushkin."

Russian teenager, Yulia Putintseva, overcame the local wildcard entrant, Karen Barbat, in the opening round of the e-Boks Open in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Monday. The contest lasted for just one hour and 52 minutes before the 17-year-old Russian wrapped it up in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, ' marching into the second round of the tournament, blogs.bettor.com writes.

With her new "Dollish" collection of autumn-winter 2012/13 a Russian designer Alena Akhmadulina finished the 6th day show of Volvo Fashion Week Moscow. Forty designers carried out their fashion shows in Gostiny Dvor, Moscow. Either collection became the expression of individual inspiration. Valentin Yudashkin brought back the fashion of the 90th on the catwalk. Galina Vasilieva relied on the images of movie stars of the 20th century: Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Lyudmila Gurchenko. Elena Teplitskaya was inspired by the spirit of famous 1930s in America. Alena Akhmadulina, who is one of most successful Russian fashion designers, created the whole show based on the motives of "the Nutcracker", Itar Tass writes.
Volvo Fashion Week Moscow is considered to be the most significant event in Russian fashion and is traditionally held under the patronage of Moscow Government.

On April 8, Orthodox Christians are celebrating Palm Sunday. In Russia, this holiday is called Willow Sunday. Because palms don't grow in Russia, people bring willows' branches to churches on this day, the Voice of Russia writes.
Two great relics, a peace of Jesus's robe and one of the nails with which He was crucified, were brought into Russia's main Orthodox cathedral, The Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Mocsow. Until recently, these relics were kept in a museum of the Moscow Kremlin. Several years ago, they were handed over to the Church.

Russian junior national team of foil fencers has taken gold at team competitions of the junior championship in Moscow, Itar Tass writes. Tatiana Gudkova, Yulia Bakhareva, Daniela Khrapina and Aleksandra Magdich have won world champions' titles. In the decisive duel meet they defeated Chinese team with the score 45:42. In qualifications for the finals Russians defeated their rivals from Belarus, USA and Israel.
